What is polylactic acid?
Polylactic acid (PDLLA) is a tissue biostimulator used in aesthetic medicine. It is administered into the deeper layers of the skin, on the premise that it will gradually stimulate the skin to rebuild its own structure. For this reason it is a treatment spread over time — any changes appear gradually over the following weeks, and not directly after the treatment.
The result is individual — it depends on age, the condition of the skin and lifestyle. We discuss the scope of the treatment and the results that can realistically be achieved during the consultation.
How the treatment goes
The treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and takes about 60 minutes. The product is dosed in small portions using a very fine needle or cannula, which minimises the risk of bruising. To achieve the desired results, several treatments at intervals of a few weeks are usually necessary — the exact protocol is established individually during the consultation.
Indications
- Prevention, and visible signs of skin ageing
- Loss of volume and slackness of the tissues of the face
- Wrinkles, loss of firmness and density of the skin
- Hollowed areas (the temples, the cheeks), a less defined jawline
- The treatment is recommended above all after the age of 30
Contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active skin infections, acne or inflammation at the treatment site
- Autoimmune conditions
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Cancer
- Taking medication that reduces blood clotting
- A tendency to form keloids
